This is going to be a quick one, because it's almost midnight and I still have homework to do. I chose the poetry class, by the way.
The scent of a mother--sounds nice, right? Moms should smell comforting, comfortable, clean, like a mixture of fabric softener and, I don't know, cookies or something. Imagine my disappointment when I had the following conversation with my twelve-year-old sister, after she sat next to me on the couch and gave me a hug:
Me: Hey, S___! What's up?
S: Not much. Rachel, you stink like boobie milk.
Sigh. Will that be the scent my children remember years from now? Soured breastmilk? Sheesh.

To Thomas, it's sweet and comforting. =)
Noah used to seek out my milk smell, "sour" or not, in his sleep. Now he sticks his tongue out as far as it'll go and scoot around until I let him latch on. *shakes head*
Well I hope not.. hahaha :)
ditto what aithyne said.
Yeah, I have a feeling Thomas won't remember that unless you plan on breastfeeding him when he's 5.
But I know what you mean, my husband told me the same thing once. Bad Hubby.
Hahahhahah, I'm sorry...that's funny though. He won't remember that, and well...it's just another one of things about mommy-hood that no one really warns you about.
It's weird to me that she would know what booby milk smiled like.
@aithyne - Yeah, I suppose it is. :) Noah is funny.
@MlleBaroque - I suppose he won't remember it, unless I'm breastfeeding one of his siblings when he's older. Who knows?
@yourheadispunk - Tell me about it!
@LultimaNotte - I don't know. I guess she knows what soured cow's milk smells like, so she made the connection...
@Amarisa - Bahahaha, that's really funny.
Cute! I'm sure it wasn't fun to hear. And I could be a ninny and tell you that I don't believe for a second that you smell like breast milk, but real friends keep it real. I CAN say that I doubt you smell like SOURED milk, LOL. Think of it this way...there are worse things to smell like. It's not a bad smell, really! And it's TEMPORARY. I have girlfriends who smell like that when they are breastfeeding regularly, and it's a comforting smell and I pray to God that I will get to smell like that some day. Lord, 3 times please!
@BigToePeople - It is a comfort smell. Miss S. doesn't have a good nose yet, it'll take time for her to appreciate new smells.
It's funny hearing it. It was one of those things that you just kinda knew, but nobody said anything about it. Not sour, though. lol. Though, from a person whose never breastfed it may be harder to diffrentiate. lol. Oh, the joys of motherhood! I haven't breastfed in- it seems like forever -ten months, though, some things I'm sure I'll never forget about those early days.
Thomas will remember the protection of his mother's embrace. :)
@BigToePeople - Well, then I hope you smell that way, too, haha. :P
@Lovelyv01 - I'll never forget the blisters!
@CarmenDeBizet - I hope that's what he remembers.
come back soon, rachel! *HUG*
@bella_esperanza - I'm trying! We don't have internet at home right now, but hopefully we'll be up again soon. :)
Hey there! I miss you! :)
